£3.2m Investment and 50 New Jobs Announced at Leckey

First Minister, Arlene Foster and deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness today announced Lisburn based company Leckey is creating 50 new jobs as part of a £3.2million investment to expand its product offering and boost its export sales.

Leckey is market leader and a global player in the manufacture and supply of supportive equipment for children with special needs and successfully exports its positioning equipment worldwide.

First Minister, Arlene Foster said: “This £3.2million investment is a significant commitment by Leckey which makes a valuable contribution to Northern Ireland’s vibrant Life Sciences sector.

“This export focused development will help the company respond to the demands of its customers as well as help shape the future technology available within the mobility market.

“Invest NI has been working closely with this specialist business to support its product development, skills growth and marketing activities over the last three years. These 50 new jobs being created at Leckey’s is positive news for the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area and is another welcome boost for Northern Ireland’s manufacturing industry.”

Recruitment of the 50 new jobs has already started and 18 of the roles are already in place.

The deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness, said: “This £3.2million investment by Leckey is another important day for a local company who are a global leader in the development of rehabilitation equipment.

“This investment, resulting in 50 new jobs, will generate over £1million annually in additional salaries and offer valuable employment opportunities. Support for this expansion demonstrates the Executive’s commitment to help indigenous manufacturers strengthen their competitive position in export markets.

“Leckey products are life enhancing and improving and will assist many people and families to live their daily lives in a way which prior to having access to Leckey products simply wouldn't have been possible.”

CEO James Leckey, added: “This investment is an exciting milestone in the strategic growth of our business which will focus on building our core sales and introducing a new range of products.
