74 New Jobs and £3million of Investment Announced for Fermanagh & Omagh

Enterprise Trade and Investment Minister, Jonathan Bell has announced a combined investment of over £3million by 17 Fermanagh and Omagh based businesses which will create 74 new jobs.

Making the announcement in Enniskillen, and welcoming the commitment of the companies Jonathan Bell said: “This is a significant investment of over £3million by 17 companies who by doing so are committing to both their future and the sustained business growth of the local area.

“The overall investments include plans to create 74 new jobs across a broad range of roles and industries from sales and design to manufacturing and ICT. Once in place these jobs will contribute over £1.5million per annum in annual salaries to both the Fermanagh and Omagh local economy and Northern Ireland as a whole.”

Invest NI has offered £518,385 to support the growth of the businesses, all of which are based within the Fermanagh & Omagh Council area.

The Minister added “The support by Invest Northern Ireland further builds on that already offered to companies in this region to create new jobs, undertake R&D and explore new business in export markets. As a result of this focus, over the last four years, Invest NI support has helped to secure £88million of investment in the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area and enabled nearly 440 businesses to bring forward their growth plans.

“The role of the private sector in building our economy cannot be understated and building a strong business base here takes not just ambitious and talented entrepreneurs, but also requires a strong support network. To create a robust economy built on a strong private sector, we must work together to provide the platform businesses need to succeed. My Department, along with Invest NI, will continue to work with local stakeholders and entrepreneurs to encourage further growth in this region and across Northern Ireland.”

Invest NI’s R&D support is part funded by ERDF under the EU Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme 2014-2020.

16 Jobs Announced at Lagan Engineering

Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell has announced the creation of 16 new jobs at Lagan Engineering Limited in Cookstown.

The significant investment will set the company on course to double its turnover in the next two years.

The company, which currently employs 33 staff, designs and manufactures custom-built products for the sand, quarry, waste and recycling industries. The investment has enabled it to extend its workshop space, install new plant and machinery, undertake marketing activities and strengthen its workforce through the recruitment of key posts and skilled workers.

Speaking during his visit to the company, Jonathan Bell said: “This bold investment by Lagan Engineering Limited, supported by Invest Northern Ireland, will enable the company to consolidate its success to date and strengthen its long-term viability.

“The new jobs will contribute £345,000 annually to the local economy and expand the manufacturing skills base in the Tyrone area. They include key management posts that will help guide the company as it moves to the next level.

“Growing and strengthening our indigenous manufacturing businesses is a priority for my department and for Invest NI. Manufacturing businesses account for 16 per cent of all local economic output and for one in every nine local jobs.

“Companies like Lagan Engineering Limited play an important role within the supply chain of our highly successful materials handling sector by providing a high quality, cost-effective manufacturing service.”

Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company assistance of £134,250. 11 of the 16 jobs are already in place.

Brian Lagan, Managing Director of Lagan Engineering Limited, said: “This investment will allow us to expand and diversify over the next two years. With new workspace and an operations manager, a design engineer and a quality manager in place, we are confident that we can achieve significant turnover growth and increase our level of exports.

“The support from Invest NI is crucial to enabling us to gear up for new market opportunities and expand our customer base.”

21 New Jobs Announced at Nu Print Technologies in a £1.4million Investment

Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell has announced Nu Print Technologies’ plans to create 21 new jobs, in Londonderry, as part of a £1.4million investment aimed at growing its export sales.

Based in Springtown Industrial Estate, Nu Print Technologies’ specialises in the supply of labels to a wide range of industries such as food and drink and pharmaceutical packaging.

Jonathan Bell said: “Nu Print Technologies is an innovative business and this significant investment is designed to position the company competitively to succeed in new markets. The creation of 21 jobs here in Springtown, over the next three years, signals the company’s continued commitment to the area. Once in place these jobs will generate £469,000 annually in additional salaries and also help to bolster the manufacturing skills base in the North West.

“The company’s investment includes the purchase of new equipment to enable the production of new products and to improve processes and efficiencies. Invest Northern Ireland has also offered £279,000 to support its investment in new technologies and the recruitment of a Product and Process Manager. This has enabled Nu Print to proceed quickly with its growth plans and gain the resources and capability needed to grow its sales outside Northern Ireland.”

Gavin Killeen, Managing Director of Nu Print Technologies added: “We are focused on diversifying our product offering to make the most of opportunities in the flexible packaging and technology sectors. To do this we have introduced new manufacturing technologies and boosted our capability across a range of labelling activities.
